Congratulations! A new baby is on the way to enrich your life. Pregnancy is a time of great change leading up to an experience like no other. Birth! Attending a childbirth education course and hiring a birth doula are two ways to make this experience the best it can be.

Childbirth Education
The classes are designed to be fun, useful, and educational. The class content is based on the following Healthy Birth Practices:
-Letting labor begin on its own
-Freedom to move in labor and delivery
-Bringing someone(s) that will provide you with continuous support
-Avoiding unnecessary medical interventions
-Following your body's urge to push in an upright position
-Keeping your baby with you
The classes will provide you with the basics, then the rest is catered to the needs of you and your classmates. The goal is for you to gain more confidence, acquire new skills for labor and birth, and be prepared for parenthood.

Birth Doula
Doula is greek for woman who serves.
Doulas provide laboring mothers, expectant fathers, and other loved ones with compassionate, continuous heart to heart emotional support. Doulas know how to provide the best physical support for a laboring woman, often guiding loved ones to provide enhanced physical comfort, surrounding the woman with a trusted circle of effective support. Doulas are diplomatic advocates for your unique birth experience. Information, factual information, about pregnancy, labor and delivery is a key component to feeling in control of your pregnancy and birth experience.
The ultimate responsibility of every doula is to be the guide down the path to a positive, cherished birth experience for all involved. For more information on doula services go to my Birth Doula page.
